The Hunting of the Snark: An Agony in Eight Fits is an 1874 epic poem by Lewis Carroll. Its premise, that a hunter who catches a snark that turns out to be a boojum disappears, has been used as a metaphor for a gedankenexperiment – dropping matter into a black hole – leading to the end of time.
