Trump Travel Plans
How will he avoid prosecution?
Students of Vladimir Putin’s history, his methods, wealth and world view have been unsurprised by the US President’s systemic trashing of America.
They know this was Putin’s heart’s desire and they know too Putin owns him.
Putin’s faithful servant is now looking at the end of the line. What is he to do? Where will he go?
Let’s take a Trump’s-eye view.
He’ll not settle down in Mar-a-Lago, say his neighbors.
Nor at his property in Scotland says First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. (Her excuse, for now, is COVID rules.)
A Trump’s-eye view suggests that he’ll seek neither.
He knows best the crimes he has committed; long lists, from money laundering to, recently, sedition. Likely long lock-ups for many.
No-one’s better placed than he to know which ones will come to light once he is stripped of Presidential self-protection.
He knows too which are not federal —and therefore are unpardonable. Literally speaking.
His conduct says such thoughts may now be top of mind. Not the nation’s business, that’s for sure: His recent rota is not even lame-duck.
And, in turn, such thoughts will turn to destinations.
He will not want to stay a day in jail. So, he must shun most of the world’s almost two-hundred countries as they hold, for him, deep insecurity.
But seventy-four of them could suit his short list.
He has many to assay in Africa: Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, the two Congos, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé & Príncipe, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia or Uganda.
Or maybe not.
In Asia, he might reside in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China (I think not), Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam or Yemen. In Saudi, for example, he could swing that sword.
Europe may (or may not) offer him Andorra, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Mali, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Ukraine or the Vatican.
Or there’s ocean-island exile in Cape Verde or the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Samoa or Vanuatu.
All lack extradition to the USA.
I’ve been to just fourteen; each is fine in its fashion but none would suit his lifestyle. They lack Trumpian mod cons like glitzy golf links; Melania replacements; streams of sycophants.
And, too, he’ll want a welcome mat. And he’ll need money.
Scanning all seventy-four, my Trump’s eye soon fixates on Russia.
Where else would he choose to be? In jail?
